• Applications are now open for our first ever Community Fund!

By carefully ringfencing pitch fee revenue generated from Ruddington Village Market, the Ruddington Village Community Partnership are pleased to award up to £10,000 across projects within the parish of Ruddington that meet our aims.

  • We want to see what great projects the clubs, groups, indie businesses, schools, churches and individuals of Ruddington can deliver for our community, and we want the community to decide for itself which projects should be awarded the funding they need.

Maybe your community group wants to run an exciting arts project, or your small business wants to add some new signage that would improve the look and feel of our wonderful high street. Maybe your sports club needs some new equipment, maybe your church wants to host an event that brings the community together, or perhaps your school wants to put on a display for all the village to see.

Whatever the proposed projects, as long as they meet our aims and eligibility, if projects totalling more than £10,000 make our shortlist, the community will decide which shortlisted projects get the funding required!

Promotion and running costs for the Community Fund for Ruddington 2025 are proudly sponsored by Okarno Ltd – read more about our sponsor here.

  • How it works

The Ruddington Village Community Partnership are pleased to award up to £10,000 for projects within the parish of Ruddington

    Applications

Applications are open now until 12pm on 31st March 2025, and can be made via our online form, or paper forms are available from Ruddington Parish Council.

Applications can be made for capital or revenue projects that would be solely delivered within Ruddington before 31st May 2026. Applicants should describe their project, explain how it will meet one or more of the funding aims, describe who will benefit from it, who will be involved in delivering it, and itemise costs.

Don’t worry if you’re unsure or you’ve never filled in a grant application before – we’re here to help. We’ll hold an information evening on Wednesday 29th January 5pm-8pm at Parkers Yard if you have any questions you’d like to ask in person, and we’ll be available at the February and March markets.

The funding pot will be split as follows:

    • 3 large grants of up to £2000
    • 5 small grants of up to £800

Applicants may apply for any amount up to a maximum of £2000. Since there are only 3 large grants available, proposed projects plans that require more than £800 should explain how they could achieve some or all of their aims with an £800 award.

Proposed projects do not require matched funding. If the proposed project requires more money than is applied for, details should be given for how the remaining costs will be covered, such as other grants, sponsorships or own funds.

After you’ve submitted your application, we may contact you if we have any questions – we want to help you submit a great application.

An independent panel of judges will shortlist 8 applications for the Community Fund for Ruddington 2025.

    Shortlisting

During April 2025, an independent panel of judges will shortlist 8 applications. The decision of the judges will be final.

All 8 shortlisted applications will be awarded a share of the £10,000.

If the total value of all the shortlisted applications is more than £10,000*, a public vote will be held to decide how the money is split – see voting section.

(*If the total value of all the shortlisted applications is less than £10,000, there will be no public vote – all 8 shortlisted applications will be fully funded, and we will contact the winners by 16th May 2025 and announce them on our social media)

Once the shortlisted applicants have received funding, we’ll will check in to see how their projects are going, and each project should be prepared to write a short report within 3 months of completion so that we can share their progress on our social media and on our website.

(If funded applicants can no longer deliver their projects, they will agree to return the funding to RVCP)

A public vote will be held on Friday 16th May 2025, where residents of Ruddington will be invited to a Community Fund for Ruddington voting evening.

    Voting

If the total value of the shortlisted applications is more than £10,000, a public vote will be held on Friday 16th May 2025, where residents of Ruddington will be invited to a Community Fund voting evening at St Peter’s Church to choose their preferred projects. Information stands for each shortlisted application will be available to view, and shortlisted applicants should attend to answer any questions.

You’ll need to be 18 or older to vote, and have a Ruddington postcode. Each voter will be given a slip of paper to rank their top 5 projects: 1 for their favourite, 2 for their second favourite, etc. Members of RVCP will not be able to vote, and the judges will not be able to vote.

Once voting has closed, votes will be counted on the night, and independently adjudicated by one of our judges. Points will be allocated per ranking:

    Rank 1: 10 points

    Rank 2: 8 points

    Rank 3: 6 points

    Rank 4: 4 points

    Rank 5: 2 points

We will have £10,000 available to allocate, and we will work through the top-ranking applicants until all 8 projects have been granted funds. Up to three large grants will be awarded, and allocated amounts will be final.

The top three ranking applicants will also receive additional promotional support for their projects:

    • Press release
    • Community Fund for Ruddington 2025 website editorial
    • Ruddington Village Community Partnership social media spotlight

We will announce the results on the night at the event, and also on our social media.

My name is Jason Smith. I am married with 3 boys and therefore spend a lot of my time transporting them to swimming, football, and friends. The success of our business depends on the entrepreneurship of our colleagues in how they solve the challenges of our customers and provide an exceptional experience and it’s for that reason I am delighted to be a part of this new community initiative and hope I can bring a bit of that mindset to the judging panel
